Sinful Colors: Sugar Rush Spring 2013

Okay, so generally I am not a fan of Sinful Colors, the reason being is that they are "chippy" on me.  This along with the added fact that, in the past, they had some questionable ad campaigns that exploited works of fellow bloggers, does not help either.

BUT that is not to say it is a BAD brand to buy, or wear.  I know A LOT of nail lovers, who love and swear by this brand, and it wears like IRON on their nails.  The collections are frequent, always have the latest colors, and are fairly inexpensive at $1.99, and always go on sale for 99 cents. You can't beat that, LOL!

So recently, they released this collection that had a polish named "Candy Coated" , and well you know I had to buy it!  So here is "Candy Coated", and her fun loving "sweet treated' friends. :)

"Sugar N Spice"
2 coats, no top coat

Mid-toned dark pink creme with a subtle shimmer.  It was thick, which is why my nails have a sort of "thick" look. No Bueno!

"Cotton Candy"
3 coats, no top coat

Mid-toned light pink with a subtle shimmer.  This was better, but the third coats was necessary for me to get rid of bald spots.

"Orange Cream"
3 coats, no top coat

Light peach creme with a very subtle shimmer. This is a gorgeous color.  It has an almost "jelly" like formula, applied smoothly, but 3 coats was needed to cover bald spots.

"Unicorn"
3 coats, no top coat

Light yellow creme. I do not think this is new, and I've heard it is part of the "core" line, but never the less, Sinful decided to put it in the collection display,  and it works well with the theme so here it is, LOL!

I love this color, which is odd for several reasons. 1st, I generally do not like pastels, 2nd... I do not like light yellow wince my room as a baby was yellow, and as a toddler I never liked it, LOL :)

But this color looks good on my hands, so I have to "smile" at it.  But the formula was "blotchy" yet thick, and I needed 3 coats to cover up bald spots :(

"Sugar Rush"
2 coats, no top coat

Pretty powder blue creme. This is where the collection takes a turn in "formula", from this point on all the colors become manageable and smooth, its a polish miracle!!  This is a great blue for Spring.

"Sweet Nothing"
2 oats, no top coat

Mid-toned teal blue creme. Gorgeous, bright and energetic, this is a definite keeper!

"Candy Coated"
2 coats, no top coat

Soft blue-tones purple creme with a very subtle shimmer.  Love! Simply LOVE!

"Sweet Tooth"
2 coats, no top coat

Pink tones purple creme with a subtle shimmer.  Very pretty, I like how it is "bright" yet "light", Nice. :)

Overall the formulas are odd and I do not care for them. The colors are nice, and let's be honest, anything that is arranged in a rainbow pattern, as a display always gets my attention.  Way back in the day, I was a big fan of unicorns, Lisa Frank stickers, etc, so if it has a rainbow or comes in a "rainbow of colors", I'm SOLD! LOL!

My favorites are the blues and the purples, but as a set I say ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK". I do not like Sinfuls brushes, and the polish sometimes started to drip from the top of the brush while I was brushing  even-though I swiped the brush on the edge several times.  Just not my cup of tea. But for $1.99-99 cents, can you beat it?

Barielle: Great Offer till March 29th

Barbie Made Me Do It!

Yep, that pink loving gal made me do it! :)

First I bought this shirt at Forever 21...

I had to buy it, it is tooo cute! The shirt isn't a perfect white, and is closer to an antique light creme color, with black and neon pink writing!

Then after receiving the new Zoya PixieDust colors, it hit me...OH YEAH!

I used Barielle "Not That Kind Of Girl", and Zoya "Godiva".

I applied 3 coats of the Zoya, then used my nail tape and applied it to the tips, as guides when applying the pink. After 2 coats of the pink, I took off the tape, and then used a small nail art brush to touch up any rough spots. I let the manicure dry for 2 minutes, then carefully applied top coat only to the tips.

What do you think?

Opposites Attract!

Hi! So as you may guess, I have been enjoying the new texture craze, and here is a manicure I wore last week that got a lot of attention!

I decided to combine the new texture polish craze, with the latest trend of combining black and white for Spring.  So pretty, and so simple.  :)

Illamasqua "Scorch", and Zoya "Dahlia".

I applied my usual base coat, and then alternated 2 coats each of Illamasqua "Scorch" and Zoya "Dahlia".  I did add top coat to "Scorch", but added nothing to "Dahlia". Dark...light...rough...smooth...I love it!

Bottle Shot

Zoya "Dahlia" is apart of Zoya's Spring 2013 PixieDust Collection. It is a black textured polish with fabulous glitter.

Bottle Shot

Illamasqua "Scorch" is a basic white creme. Great coverage, great application.

I love the new texture trend, and if you haven't given it a try, I suggest picking up one of the Zoya's, because the added glitter is so perfect for catching  the light of the new Spring sun :)

Going GREEN with Shimmer Polish!

Happy Monday!

Today, I am going to share 2 manicures I wore recently, using one fabulous color from Shimmer Polish.

It's MARCH People!...embrace the green...LOL!

First manicure..

Shimmer Polish "Kelly" and Catrice "Run Forest Run!".

You all know Catrice is my favorite European brand, and here I applied 2 coats and then followed it up with "Kelly" on the tips.

Bottle Shot

Shimmer Polish "Kelly" is a green and gold glitter polish. I applied it sparingly to the tips, in 2 coats, making it seem to gradually become more opaque as you near the tips.  The glitter applied very well, no fishing it out of the bottle, and it did not clump-up, or stand-up or curl.  It dried with no issues, and after my usual 2 coats of top coat, it was glassy smooth.

I like how this glitter just added the punch of glitter and sparkle that this manicure was lacking.

Next Up...

Shimmer Polish "Kelly" and China Glaze "I'm With The Lifeguard"

After recently giving my nails a good spring CHOP, I decided I was staying "green"and going NEON!

I applied 2 coats of China Glaze "I'm With The Lifeguard", and then decided to try "Kelly", on top as an accent nail.

I only applied 1 coat of "Kelly",  as I wanted the neon green to still be seen, and the 2 colors surprisingly went well together. I could see wearing the two colors layered as an entire manicure :)

"Kelly" has the perfect balance of green and gold glitter in a variation of sizes, and with the clear base it can be used in a variety of ways.  I have more Shimmer Polishes to show you so stay tuned! :)

You can get Shimmer Polish from her shop on ETSY, and you can follow Shimmer Polish on the BLOG and on FACEBOOK.
