All I Want for Christmas (is OPI)!

OPI Joins Mariah Carey to Launch 18 New Limited Edition Holiday Nail Lacquers

OPI announces the launch of 18 new limited edition holiday nail lacquers inspired by recording artist and international superstar Mariah Carey. This seasonal promotion includes an assortment of red, burgundy, maroon and chocolate brown hues, along with glitter-packed gold, bronze and pearl shades. Mariah Carey Holiday also features six new Liquid Sand™ lacquers, ranging from icy blue to frosted pink to sparkling graphite. Each of the Liquid Sand shades showcases OPI’s groundbreaking technology for a textured, matte finish infused with reflective sparkle.
Mariah Carey is truly synonomous with the holiday season,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “People around the world listen to her festive, iconic songs – ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ is a personal favorite – and these 18 lacquers evoke the warmth, beauty, energy and positive spirit that’s present in Mariah’s music.
“This holiday season is all about red, glitter and texture for nails,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “With 18 shades, there’s a perfect hue for every occasion. The 12 crème and glitter lacquers include classic reds, champagne gold, and warm burgundies, while the six Liquid Sand shades should be worn without top coat for a matte finish in icy, frosted colors.”

Comparison: OPI "Vampire State Building" and RGB "OxBlood"

I have comparison request for OPI "Vampire State Building" and RGB "OxBlood".

RGB "OxBlood" and OPI "Vampire State Building"
3 coats of each, no top coat

Left to Right:  RGB, OPI, RGB, OPI.

Left to Right: OPI, RGB.

RGB "OxBlood" sold at RGBCosmetics.com

OPI "Vampire State Building"- discontinued.

I did a post a while ago comparing this OPI to a Color Club color, here is the link.

In my opinion, the RGB wins for the deepest, baddest vamp color around.  Although, I wish I had the old school version of Chanel "Vamp" to really compare the RGB too.

Personally, I love the RGB, and the name is so badass, "OxBlood". :)

KBShimmer: The Misfits Collection "Dew It Right"

Okay, so I'm not entirely ready to "let go" of summer, LOL!

Here is bright and fun polish released by KBShimmer earlier this summer. They had a "Misfit Polish" sale , and they decided to sell the "misfit" polish that was created but never made "the cut" into a collection.

KBShimmer "Dew It Right"
3 coats, with top coat

When they released this line, I was in route to pick-up my Mom from the airport.  Luckily a good friend of mine and fellow polish fiend, offered to buy the colors I wanted and send them to me, Thank You Marissa. :)

She grabbed almost all of the colors I wanted, and I was over joyed!!!

Before it sold out, this polish was described as "An almost neon yellow polish with a variety of hex glitters in blues, greens and golds."  It was nearly opaque in two coats, but I did three coats, just in case :). Applied smoothly, as all of their polishes do, and tried quickly.

I love this mix of colors, I can not imagine the collection this color was "booted out" of, but I am sure happy they decided to release this "reject".  :)

KBShimmer has a ton of their colors that are available, I'd check out "Blinded By The Bright", it's the closest one to this that is available. :)

NEW! OPI DS "Pewter" and "Lapis"

OPI has released 2 new DS colors, and here they are!

These have a matte texture to them, and they are fabulous.

OPI DS "Pewter"
2 coats, no top coat

OPI DS "Pewter" is a textured matte metallic. It has deep gray base with grey glitter with larger silver glitters.  It has the texture of a piece of rock. Nothing like the liquid sands, so after a few coats of top coat they are perfectly smooth. Applies very well, like most OPI glitters, and could be a one coater since the base is so opaque, but I did two coats.

Here it is with one coat of top coat...

I actually prefer this without top coat.  Now for the one I LOVE...

OPI DS "Lapis"
2 coats, no top coat

OPI DS "Lapis" is a sapphire blue textured matte polish. It goes on thick, but layers perfectly in two coats. The layers of sapphire and silver glitter make this polish stand out from the rest.  Now let's see the real fireworks with one coat of top coat...

AMAZING!!! Simply amazing! Two coats of top coat, and it is perfect! Now this color, I prefer with top coat. OH YEAH!

I love how both of these apply, but "Lapis" had my heart at "Hello". Oh yeah!

Designer Series by OPI nail lacquer shades each feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.  DS Raw Granite lacquers should be worn without top coat for a matte finish.  DS Pewter and DS Lapis will be available beginning September 2013 at professional salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $12.50 ($14.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

Barielle "Brilliant Colors" Collection 2013, swatches and review

Today I have some great bright cremes from Barielle that were released earlier this summer.

"Brilliant Color" Collection is a collection of bright cremes with very scholarly names.

Barielle "Smarty Pants Pink"
2 coats, no top coat

A nice bright pink, almost neon but not quite.  Applied very well, no issues.

Barielle "Magna Cum Laude Turquoise"
2 coats, no top coat

A great bright turquoise creme. Applied well in 2 coats, and I had no staining with this color, which was a welcome surprise.

Barielle "Straight A Coral"
2 coats, no to coat

A bright coral red. This is an easy color to wear since it leans red and has less orange in it than most corals.

Barielle "High Marks Purple"
2 coats, no top coat

This is an awesome bright purple creme.

Barielle "Head Of The Class Green"
2 coats, no top coat

This is a bright and pretty awesome green.  This would be a fun pedicure color!

The Barielle descriptions for these colors are "neons", but I should call them "back to school brights", LOL! True, none of the colors are unique, but my favorites are "High Marks Purple" and "Head Of The Class Green". :)

They all applied very well, no issues. I am very happy with the Barielle formula, it is smooth and easy and is almost opaque in 2 coats. A definite joy to work with.

You can purchase these colors at Barielle.com
